Elder Justin Ward- Powell was born August 31st 1987 to the former Lisa P. Ward in Dover, DE.

From the time he was born, his parents and grandparents knew that there was something different about the last child born in second generation the Ward family.  Growing up, Elder Powell always displayed a love for music and at the tender age of 5 began to play the first verse and chorus to “Order My Steps”.  From this point, Elder Powell began playing at his home church (Emmanuel A.M.E. Church under the pastorate of The Rev. Luther L. Walker) for the ENA’s.

Elder Powell completed his early education in the Smyrna School Districts and later in the Lake Forest School Districts.  By the age of 9, Elder Powell began playing for his uncle (Rev. William J. Ward Jr. and the Community Baptist Church of Barclay, MD) for their youth choir.  In addition, Elder Powell also had the opportunity to accompany The Rev. Ruth C. Evans to Staten Island, NY to minister at their annual holy convocation.  It was then, Elder Powell became known as the "interdenominational musician". In 1997, Elder Powell along with his mother relocated to Harrington, DE and became members of The Mt. Plymouth A.M.E. Church, under the pastorate of Rev. Sonja Ayers.  During his membership at Mt. Plymouth, Elder Powell had the opportunity to become the church’s minister of music, allowing his gifts to be stretched and cultivated.  Elder Powell worked not only with the youth of the church but with the middle aged and seasoned saints of the church.

In 2005, Elder Powell was a proud member of the first graduating class of the Campus Community High School in Dover DE.  At Campus Community, Minister Powell had the distinguished honor of co-writing the school’s alma mater.

In 2007, Elder Powell was licensed a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ under the leadership of Bishop Dr. Mary L. Alexander. Since that time, Elder Powell has had vast opportunities to minister and play for a plethora of well-known preachers, singers and groups. Among many, is the International COGIC Music Department President in the persons of Dr. Judith Christie McAllister, which is Elder Powell's mentor in the arena of  Praise and Worship..

As a young man, Minister Powell has experienced many valleys and mountain tops in life, which has given him a testimony to minister unto the nations, spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ, letting the world know, they already have the victory!

In 2014, Elder Powell was ordained and Elder in the Lord's church under the leadership of his grace Chief Apostle Ivory Jenkins and The Fountain of Praise Covenant Churches.

Elder Powell has also been privileged to serve many great churches in the capacity of Director of Music. In the present, Elder Powell currently serves at Bethel AME Church under the pastorate of Rev. Dr. Silvester S. Beaman as the church organist and assistant to Sis. Gloria H. Oakley, Director of Church Music.

One of many of Rev. Powell favorite scriptures is Luke 1:45 “Blessed is they who believed, for there will be a performance of those things which were told them from the Lord”.
